California is not truly variegated, but has such a milifiling of f;old, bronze and red that it gives the appearance of l)eing of more than one color. We find this old variety one of tlie most attrac- tive for bordering beds of either red or yellow cannas. It is not yet superseded, by any means. ' As to Gladioflora, we think more of it every year we see it grow. The mingling of red and yellow is so good, the habit of growth and freedom of bloom are so nearly i)erfect, and the bright appearance of the bed is so strik- ing tliat we can easily overlook the fact that the flowers are not so large as some of the newer varieties. A Strong-Growing Orchid Type. Mrs. Karl Kelsey is one of the strong- est-growing, largest-fiowcred and freest of the orchid-llowercd type. The flow- ers are decidedly striped with several shades of red, orange, etc. It is one of the tallest of cannas, but, after all, it will never be popular, for the color is not prett
