The additional rolling stock consists of a Peckham rotary snowplow and one 52-ft. baggage and express car which is leased fromthe Northern Indiana Railway Co. Additional express cars of thestyle shown in the accompanying illustration will be purchased asthe traffic increases. At present the rolling slock is inspected and repaired at theshops of the Northern Indiana Railway Co. in South Bend, butthere soon will be completed a repair shop adjoining the power. STANDARD PASSENGER CAR SOUTHERN MICHIGAN RAILWAY CO. station at Scotdale. This shop will have three pit tracks with atotal capacity for repairing three cars under cover. Power House and Distribution System. Current for the operation of the rolling stock is obtained fromtwo sources. At the southern end of the route the direct-currenttrolley and feeders are connected with the overhead system ofthe Northern Indiana Railway Co. The source of the currentused throughout the larger portion of the route is generated in anew power house at Scotdale. At this station, which is abouteight miles from St. Joseph, the northern terminus of the route,a power house and shop building has been erected adjacent to theright of way. The new building is of frame construction with corrugated iron floor of the boiler room.
