Guadalest Walled Town Spain

The Spanish village of Guadalest dates back to 715AD. Its castle was built by the Moors in the 12th century and occupies one of the most stunning positions in Spain. The old town and castle are precariously perched on the pinnacles of a granite mountain and can only be accessed by one small tunnel cut through the rocks. The castle was destroyed by an earthquake on 22nd July 1644. It has been declared a 'Monument of Historical and Artistic Value'.
