Broken upper arm bone. Frontal X-ray of the fractured left humerus (upper arm bone) of an 81-year-old woman. The fracture is of the neck of the humerus, just below the humeral head, and rotation of the humeral head has also occurred. The bone will need to be pinned back together, and the arm immobilised to allow healing to take place.
