Her portrait, in a group with her mother andsister, painted by John Pettie, (1839-93), was exhibited inthe Royal Academy, 1880. On 8 June, 1905, she married JohnWhiteman. Her husband is the son of Walter WoodhamsWhiteman. He was born on 2 January, 1873, and was educatedat Wanganui College, New Zealand. He entered the NewZealand forces in 1899, and served with them in South Africaduring the beginning of the Boer War. He joined the MiddlesexRegiment as Second Lieutenant in 1900, and was promoted to beLieutenant in 1901, and Captain in 1906. He served all throughthe South African War, receiving the Queens South Africanmedal and five clasps, and the Kings South African medal andtwo clasps, and was mentioned in despatch
