Line of soldier statues in Ponte de Lima, Portugal.

Ponte de Lima takes its name from the low stone bridge that crosses the river, rebuilt in 1368 but still bearing traces of its Roman origin. It is said to mark the path of the first hesitant Roman crossing of the river and was part of a military route leading from Braga to Astroga.
