Students of the Birzeit University in Ramallah participate in the University's Student Council elections. The final result gave Al Wafaa' Islamic Bloc 24 seats, the Martyr Yasser Arafat bloc 23 seats, and the Democratic Progressive Student Pole 4 seats of the 51 total seats. The Student Unity Bloc was unable to secure any seats. The elections took place soon after Birzeit University annual Student Debate on May 8th, which has focused on political, social, and student issues and affairs
