Staff nurse Charlotte Howden, inputting data into an iPad on a ward at Whiston Hospital in Merseyside. The device is used to facilitate the Electronic Modified Early Warning System (EMEWS) which helps alert clinical staff to which patients require priority treatment at the hospital. The system, introduced at Whiston Hospital in 2016, allows staff to monitor and regulate patient care in a more efficient way than previous paper-based systems.
