Sulgrave Manor House is now maintainedas a Washington museum and is vested in a body of trusteesrepresenting England and the United States. The pilgrimwill notice the Washington coat-of-arms—obviously thebasis of Old Glory, with its bars and stars—carved inthe spandrels of the porch. Above the House flies theAmerican flag—this and the American in Londonbeing the only places in England where the Stars and Stripesare never furled, 7. A SHRINE PILGRIMAGE. The chief pilgrim shrines visited by American visitors tothe old country are all included in the above sketch the exception of Boston, Tattershall and Scrooby—shown in the upper part of the map—all the places in this Heart- of Ameri-can Shrineland are comprised in an areabarely 130 miles square. The pilgrim can easily make a round tour of this area fromLondon and at the same time become acquainted with someof the most typical and rustic parts of rural England at itsbest. He can take the East Anglian shrines first.
