View NNW of the C13th west tower & broach spire of St Hilary's Church, St Hilary, Cornwall, England, UK. The spire is topped by a weathercock & has a statue of St Hilary, C4th bishop of Poitiers, in a niche on its SE face. Only the tower & spire survived a devastating fire in 1853, the rest of the church was rebuilt by William White in 1855 reusing some of the original materials. The sundial on the rebuilt S porch is dated 1787. The broach spire used to be whitewashed to act as a landmark (seamark) for ships in St Ives & Mounts Bay.
