Paphos harbour on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus, pictured from a 'pirate' boat offering leisure cruises.

Paphos Castle (also known as the Medieval Fort of Paphos) dominates the harbour area. It was originally built in Byzantine times to protect the harbour, dismantled by the Venetians in 1570 and rebuilt again in the 16th century by the Ottomans. The harbour is also home to the En Plo Gallery where the work of local artists is on display. Tavernas and bars line the harbourside and cruise boats offer excursions.
