Centre county. He died in 1890, atPlainville, Kan., as a result of injuries re-ceived in a runaway. He was a man whotook a deep interest in educational mattersand served on the school board of Bellefontefor many years. His wife, Catherine, was adaughter of Daniel Eckel, a resident of Cen-tre county. Pa. 8he died the same year asher husband, at the age of 67. John W. wasborn February 1, 1854, near Bellefonte. Hiseducational advantages were limited to theattendance of the public schools in the vicin-ity of his home up to his twentieth year,when he entered the State College near hisnative town.
