The Hermit Spider is a large member of the Golden Orb-Web family. They do not make a full orb and they often make the nest up against a structure such as rocks and tree trunks. They hide in a funnel in the 'missing' section and rush out when prey is trapped. They often have small kleptoparasitic Argyrodes resident in the web who will steal their food.
