The species, however, doesnot show great antler development in this locality, but for some reason the antlers achieve their maxi-mum development in the Kenai Peninsula. In the Kenai Peninsula and the country aroundCook Inlet, Alaska, with an unknown distribu-tion to south and east, we find the distinct speciesrecently described as Alces gigas. The animalitself has great bulk, but perhaps not more so thanthe animals of the Cassiar Mountains, to whichit is closely related. The antlers of theseAlaska moose are simply huge, running, on theaverage, very much larger and more complex than 386. ^\.y^
