These motors were manufactured by the Falker Mfg. Co., Cleveland, Ohio, and werepurchased during 1896. It is a four pole motor with four field spools, twc in upper and two in lewerpart of frame. The frame consists of two parts, upper and lcwer. The lower part is hung fromthe upper by two eye bolts sc that it can be easily unbolted and swung downwardallowing room to reach the armature. The shape is approximately cylindrical with side projections to carry the armaturejournal bearings. The commutator carries two brushes. The armature is of the laminated drum type wouno. with machine made coils laid inlongitudinal slots cut in the circumference. The armature core is composed of thin sheet iron discs. The gear and pinion are enclosed in a cast iron case which keeps them free fromdirt and deadens the noise to a large extent. The bearings are of bronze lubricated from a grease cup.
