Aerial view Traitor's island in the Houtman Abrolhos. It gained its name during the Batavia shipwreck and mutiny (1629) as Commander Pelsaert left from here in an open boat to sail to Indonesia for help. (Note: these images are not shot through glass, the plane door is off). The Houtman Abrolhos islands lie 60 kilometres off the coast of Geraldton in Western Australia. There are 122 pristine islands in three major groups; the Wallabi, Easter and Pelsaert groups stretching from north to south across 100 kilometres of the Indian Ocean.
