Bald eagle lands on the snow with a smile ALASKA THIS COMICAL image shows a majestic bald eagle looking like it is slalom skiing while making a perfect landing. Captured in Kachemak Bay State Park, Alaska, the bald eagle is the state’s largest resident bird of prey. It has a wing span of up to feet and weighs between 8 to 14 pounds. Other images show the bald with the majestic eagle with its one-year-old offspring. These impactful pics were taken by bird photographer Steven Blandin (42) from a distance of 50 feet with a Canon 1dX Mark II camera and a 300mm lens. “I was canvasing the area for a whole week to capture rare moments of these birds in the wild. “To get the best shots, I knelt on the snow 50 feet away from them and stayed there for a long time. “I felt an immense satisfaction when I snapped these pictures. I had planned the entire trip around the idea of capturing images of Bald EagIe. “I was very impressed by the ability of the birds to manoeuvre so easily, even during such challenging weather conditions. “Bald Eagles have impressive speed and power. The sound of their wing flaps is something else in the snow.” ENDs
