Green wooden fence leading towards a cheese farm, called "De Catharinahoeve" at Zaanse Schans. It is a replica of an original farm from the village of Oostzaan, built in 1988 and has been converted into a cheese farm. Different types of Dutch cheese are being produced here. Cheese making demonstrations are conducted throughout the day and are available in many languages. Best of all is the possibility of being able to taste the end product. Zaanse Schans is a neighbourhood of Zaandam, near Zaandijk in the municipality of Zaanstad in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. It has a collection of well-preserved historic windmills and houses; the ca. 35 houses from all over the Zaanstreek were moved to the museum area in the 1970. Zaanse Schans is one of the popular tourist attractions of the region and an anchor point of ERIH, the European Route of Industrial Heritage. The neighbourhood attracts approximately 900,000 visitors every windmills were built after 1574.
