Cars abandoned on Kirkstone Pass above Ambleside in the November 2009 floods had their wheels stolen by thieves.

On Thursday 19th November 2009 over 31cm of rain fell in 24 hours on the Cumbrian mountains. The single largest rainfall total in the British Isles since records began. It caused unprecedented flooding, with Cockermouth being particularly badly hit after both the Cocker and Derwent burst their banks. The main street was 5 feet underwater and £millions worth of damage was caused. This shots shows a car that had been abandoned in the flood waters on kirkstone Pass above Ambleside, which was then subsequently the victim of crime, as a passer by stole all the wheels of the vehicle.
