Hammersmith Morris side celebrated the 50th anniversary of the dance Hammersmith Flyover being specially written for them in 1962 by John Kirkpatrick, by dancing across the Hammersmith flyover. The Morris dancers from one of the leading Morris dancing groups in the country, took the opportunity to perform this unique celebration as the flyover was closed for investigations into weakness and for repairs. The song is in the tradition of Longbough and Hammersmith Morris is based in Hammersmith, of course, and the dance was written for them commemorating the opening of the flyover 50 years ago in 1962.
