Staff Sergeant Jeffrey A. Hendricks, Career Planning Retention Chief for the Force Headquarters Group shows a video message from the Commandant of the Marine Corps to Marines of the individual ready reserve during the Mega Deployment Support Site Exercise Individual Ready Reserve Administrative Muster at the Miami Airport Convention Center in Miami, Florida. The Commandant thanked the Marines of the individual ready reserve for their service and for their important contribution to national defense. Marines of Readiness Support Program Four (RSP-4), Mobilization Operational Support Team (MOST), and Marine Corps Individual Reserve Support Activity (MCIRSA) facilitated the Mega Muster event to process Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) Marines within the southern Florida region to rehearse the recall of reserve Marines. MCIRSA, a subordinate activity of Force Headquarters Group (FHG), organizes, plans, and executes muster events across the United States each year in order to accomplish its primary mission of providing support to Headquarters, Marine Corps for the involuntary recall of the more than 65,000 Marines of the IRR. During these muster events, MCIRSA conducts an administrative screening of IRR Marines to ensure those Marines’ readiness to augment and reinforce the active component. The Marines of the IRR previously served on active duty or as drilling reservists, and now stand ready to augment the active forces in time of war or other contingency. These Marines bring tremendous experience and capability to the United States Marine Corps, and are an important part of the “total force.”
