His Daughter ofthe Regiment is a bril-liant little opera, withits rollicking songs, itsdrums, its vivaciousheroine and its comicold Corporal. Not wishing to acknowledge this marriageeven now, the Marchioness declares Marie to beher niece, and dismisses Tonio as a totally unfit
