It is a mostexcellent associationin all its details, and a lasting safeguard against destitution and the time it was organized the Baltimore and Ohio Company gaveoutright, to base operations upon, a large sum in its stock, which isquoted at about two hundred, and upon which a semi-annual dividend offive per cent is regularly paid. The association is managed by the officersand employes of the road, and bears upon its records the names of nearlytwenty-four thousand The system has proved so successfulthat other large railway corporations are adopting its general plan oforganization and management.
