A Bavarian court Hirschfänger,1st half of the 19th century Single-edged blade with broad fuller,blued,gilded and etched on both sides with hunting scenes and symbols between vine work. The obverse side bears the maker's inscription,"Steinam & Cie. Würzburg". Finely ornamented gilded hilt,with a recumbent stag and two hinds does on the guard plate. Dark,riveted horn grip scales. Black leather scabbard with gilded and sculpted brass furniture. Includes the original by-knife.
