Grey squirrel - Sciurus carolinensis, Native to North America, the Grey Squirrel was introduced at the beginning of the 20th Century into England, Ireland and South Africa. It has become somewhat a pest as well as regarded as vermin by many. The Grey Squirrel has also played a major role in the downfall of the native European Red Squirrel. The Grey Squirrel is also known for its ingenuity, stealth and acrobatics when it comes to raiding gardens for food laid out for birds much to the annoyance of the garden owners who try in vain to come up with new ways of making their feeders squirrel proof.
