The abandoned iron and magnesium mines at Vani Cape, Milos island, Cyclades, Greece

Milos, is among many other things, an open-air geological museum, probably the most important in Greece. Here you can see part of the abandoned iron and magnesium mines of Vani cape, at the northernmost edge of the western "branch" of the island. It's quite difficult to reach, you 'll have to take several dirtroads (4X4 vehicle suggested), you 'll also need a good map to find it. But once you get there, you 'll see one of the most unusual and spectacular Greek landscapes, a location that would be ideal for shooting "western" films, with strange rock formations and blinding red colors.
