Mr. Keefe is the inventor of several usefijlpatents ; is a large holder of Milwaukee real,estate,has helped to found several societies for the benefitof humanity and religion, and is ever ready to givehis aid and help to their further growth and develop-ment. He has held many positions of trust as trus-tee, director, and officer in church, humane andcharitable societies. Besides keeping abreast of thetimes in literature and science, he has given muchtime to the study of law, which has proved of greataid in his extensive business. In 1878 Mr. Keefe wasmarried to Marie H. ONeill, daughter of EdwardONeill, the banker. HYDE, Joel Wilbur, physiciau, was born atWestbrook, Conu., jNIarcb 20, 1839. He is descend-ed in a direct line from William Hyde, wbo camefrom England in 1630, and settled tirst at Newton,Mass., and was one of the faithful band that follow-ed the fortunes of Rev. Thomas Hooker, the firstminister of Hartford, Conn. Heafterward removed to Saybrook,and later was one of the thirty-fiveoriginal proprietors of Norwich,Conn.
