There are many cases of flu in the city, but fortunately it has not reached the epidemic stage and it does not seem to h^ve the fatal tendencies that it had a year ago; only two deaths have been reported to the health department from it so far this year. Tate. EAKSAS CITY, MO. The Market. There is such an epidemic of influenza that the florists are worse off than ever with a short supply of stock. The weath- er has been ideal for several days, but it has not been bright long enough for flowers to recover since Christmas. Each day finds orders filled somehow or other, but it requires such stretching and plan- ning that it gets on one's nerves after a week or two. Carnations and sweet peas are coming in better, but the de- mand is heavier in proportion. Plants are being sold almost entirely for sick rooms and hospitals and the flowers are being saved for funerals and other pur- poses. Roses are from $10 to $30; car- nations, $10 and $12; sweet peas,
