The French Siege of Paris: interior of gun-boat La Commune, 1871. 'We give an interior view of the ironclad compartment of the cannonière or gun-boat La Commune, with two guns. This boat has a crew of thirty-seven men, commanded by M. Girard. In addition to the iron on the roof or deck, extra protection is given by means of sandbags. This vessel's guns are pointed towards Meudon; they are breech-loaders. The sailors are dressed in white canvas'. From "Illustrated London News", 1871.
