Guian. iii. p. 667) :^There is one specimen that still remains unique in my collection which was also shot in the vicinity of the Roraima Mountains. The " Arawaaks " call it Kobaiku. Genus TANGAKA Briss. Ian gar a Brisson, Ornithologia, iii. p. 3, 1760. Type, by tautonymy T. tatao (Linn.).. Fig. 188.—Tangara paradisea. The species included in this genus have a great variety of colour but are almost uniform in measurements. The bill is compara- tively small and pointed ; its width and depth at the base are about two-thirds the length of the exposed culmen. The wing is rounded, the three outer primaries'longest and equal. The tail is square at the tip and about two-thirds the length o£ the wing. The tarsus is.
