American soldier is seen holding a Browning Machine Rifle, model of 1918, air-cooled, in a shoulder position during World War One. The gun resembles an ordinary rifle and allows the soldier to aim using sights similar to those found on service rifles. It is capable of firing 350 continuous shots, with short pauses for magazine changes, before requiring cooling. Photograph taken on February 25, 1918.
