Mrs. Jane Cornwell, the wife ofWm. T., and mother of B. B. Mr. Cornwell was a prom-inent citizen in his township. In 1839 the Rev. Thomas Thompson settled on the Weldon River, nearwhere Spickardsville now stands. He was one of the first settlers in Frank-lin township, the father-in-law of Geo. A. Spickards, an early settler of thesame township. A MORMON FAMILY. There are pretty strong evidences that a few Mormon families lived for ashort time in Franklin township some years previous to its reported firstwhite settler, James Weldon. The arrival of these families dates from thetime of the settlement of the Mormon colony wliich located in Daviesscounty in the spring of 1836.
