The One Hundredth Infantry Illinois Volunteers was organized at Camp Irwin, Joliet,Illinois, in August, 1862, by Colonel Frederick A. Bartleson, and mustered in August30th. ^ On the 2d September, the Regiment moved, via Springfield, Illinois, to Louisville, Ken-tucky, where it was placed in First Brigade, Colonel E. N. Kirk commanding; SecondDivision, Brigadier General Cruft commanding; Army of Kentucky. On 1st of October was transferred to Fifteenth Brigade, Sixth Division, Army of theOhio, General Haskill commanding Brigade, and General Wood commanding Division. Marched in pursuit of Bragg to Wild Cat, Kentucky, and, moving via Columbia andScottsville, Kentucky, and Gallatin, Tennessee, to Nashville, it arrived, November 26th,1862. The Regiment was mustered out of service June 12th, 1865, at Nashville, Tennessee,and arrived at Chicago, June 15th, 1865, where it received final payment and discharge.
