Fish are sold by the roadside in coastal communities in Fiji. It is caught in the afternoon from local reefs by men swimming with spearguns. The fish are very colourful and are sold for about twenty five Fiji dollars which is equal to fifteen US dollars. As the fishermen are poor there is no means to chill the fish as it is sold. As the photo was taken on public land there is no legal requirement for a press release.
The fish appear on the road at about 5pm every day after the fish are caught in nearby sea reefs. Local fishermen use spears and the fish are sold for an average of fifteen US dollars, or twenty five Fiji dollars. The fish are not kept cold as there is no means to chill them. The community is very poor.
