This beint;- my first annual rejjort of the schools of Adams county,my acquaintance, therefore, with the former progrress made in thecounty, educationally, is a matter of further development. Not having yet become as fully identified with the former work asI desire, I cannot make an impartial comparison of last years workAvith the work of former years. It, however, affords me g-reat pleasureto report that I have found the schools generally doing good work. Teachers, with a few exceptions, are doing their work faithfiilly ; theyare earnest, zealous and conscientious in the discharge of their duties,yet there remains much room for further improvement. We have great reason to look for marked progress in the near future,inasmuch as our teachers are realizing the importance of pushing them-selves to the front in the profession.
