A 100-pound flour sack is spread over the top and a piece of burlap 34x36 inches is laid over this. The First Inner Overcoat is telescoped down over the brood-nest in between the inner and outer hive walls, the flour sack and burlap being carried down with it. This has the effect of wrapping the brood-nest in a blanket. The Second Inner Overcoat is then tele- scoped down over the first. (The Inner Overcoats are removed in the Spring and stored away in the flat.) This insulates the colony with a Yt inner hive wall, with a flour sack and bur
