Sgt. 1st Class Matthew Smeltz, recruiter, Anthem Recruiting Station, Phoenix North Recruiting Company, places a brick in honor of his late K-9 Aya, at the Anthem Veteran’s Memorial, Feb. 1, Anthem, Ariz. For five years Smeltz, recruiter, Anthem Recruiting Station, Phoenix North Recruiting Company, had Aya as his faithful companion, after she was retired from the Army as a military working dog.
