He built a house inDedham in 1652, but became one of the founders ofMedfield, an adjoining town, in 1649, and removedthere a few years later, continuing his career of use-fulness and prominence. His lot was at the cornerof Main and North street, on which he built hisresidence. He was on the committee to collect fundsfor Harvard College; and was one of the signersof the famous Dedham Covenant. He htld manypositions of public trust and honor. He taughtschool most of his active life, but never resumedpreaching after he came to New England. He died. WORCESTER COUNTY 343 in November. 1683. He made his will May 3, 1681;the inventory of his estate was dated January 31,1683-4, and the will was finally proved May I, bequeathed to his eldest son Gershoin and othersons, Benjamin, Eliezer and Samuel; sons-in-lawIncrease Ward and Joseph Warren; grandchild Re-becca Craft; refers to deceased w-ife. and names hisbrother.
