Dawn flight of pink-footed geese over Burscough, Lancashire. UK Weather. 17th Sept, 2019. Scarecrow in a field on a sunny start to the day over the arable fields of West Lancashire. As the harvest of grain crops is underway huge flocks of migrant pink foot geese arrive from northern climes to pick over the remains of the harvest spread over the fields. Pink-footed geese also feed on improved grassland, ideally near their night-time roost sites. About 280,000, 80% of world population winter in the UK.
