Several changes of billets followed. On June 21, the regiment reachedPierregot, in the war zone, and was attached to the Third Corps of the FourthBritish Army. From the regimental camp the heavy guns could be heard rumbling inthe distance, and at night from the high hills in the vicinity of the campflashes from the cannon and signal lights from the battlefields could be , also, the Germans paid their first respects to the regiment.
