Arizona - Canyon Lake - Hole Carved into the Rock carved, hole
Most people think of Arizona as one big desert. While that is true for much of Arizona, the state does have a few surprises such as Canyon Lake, one of four lakes formed by the damming of the Salt River. There is a marina which is also home to Dolly the Steamboat — offering sightseeing and dinner rides on the lake. I was intrigued by a set of holes carved in the rock. I assume they were created by Mother Nature but who knows. They might have offered shelter from the elements to Native Americans before the coming of the Europeans.
