Iwanari Chkara-no-suke Sukemichi

Biographies of the Heroes of the Taiheiki Number 15 - Iwanari Chkara-no-suke Sukemichi, Retainer of Miyoshi Nagayoshi, 1867. A fierce samurai glowers at the enemy whilst standing on a defeated opponent. It's worth noting that these warrior prints were produced at a time of immense upheaval in Japanese culture. One year later (1868) after minor civil war and skirmish, the old Shogunate regime was replaced by the restoration of the Meiji empire.
