They found the market place filled with booths The little foot-boats kept their feet quitecomfortable, as they raced away to town. They found the market place filled withbooths and merry-go-rounds and people. The people all wore their prettiest Sundayclothes. The boys and their fathers wore theirbiggest silver buttons and black velvet trousers,while the girls and their mothers \vore theirfinest lace caps and gold spangles. There were many kinds of caps and spanglesthat Molly and May had never seen before. 76 THE SUNBONNET BABIES IN HOLLAND People had come to Kermis from all thevillages near by. In each village the caps weremade in a different style, so it was easy to tellwhere a little girl lived by looking at her cap.
