These thoroughfares of trade have kept pace withother things, and Raleigh now has four lines leadingNorth, South, East and West, and gathering in or tak-ing out heavy freights. Ttie North Carolina, Raleighand Gaston and Raleigh and Augusta railways giveRaleigh quick connections with all points, and in atwelvemonth more the fast through line from Atlantato New York will give even more rapid transit. The City Government, &c. The municipal administration of Raleigh has forthe past three years been very progressive, while taxeshave been reduced and various reforms rate of taxation is now lower than in many years,and will compare favorably with that of any city ofequal size in the country. The debt is comparativelysmall, and the sinking fund, thanks to good manage-ment, is large. The citys credit is high. The Public Buildings.
