Inspections were frequent and thorough, to detectand remedy any defects in the equipment of the troops whilethe needed supplies were easily within reach. Special Order Xo. 78, issued by General Wadsworth, April6, contained the following paragraph: 10. Lieutenant-Colonel Osborne, division inspector, and Lieu-tenant Tinker, division ordnance officer, will forthwith make athorough inspection of the arms and equipments of this commandand will report thereupon; and likewise in the order of merit or.
