Norrköpings industrial landscape. Few european cities can boast such a well-preserved industrial area as Norrköping. In Swedens "Manchester" the industrial development started in the 17th century and carried on through to the middle of the 20th century. Along the banks of the Motala Ström - Motala River - a number of woollen spinning mills and cotton factories were established. By the middle of the 19th century, Norrköping was the second largest industrial city in Sweden. 70% of Swedens textiles were woven here.
