This illustration dates to about 1901 black and white wood engraving of a painting by Clarkson Frederick Stanfield (1793-1867) entitled "Wind against Tide, the Thames at Tilbury Fort". Clarkson Frederick Stanfield (1793 – 1867) was a prominent English marine painter, often inaccurately credited as William Clarkson Stanfield.
