The windows of this shop are always attractive, but for the last few weeks have been par- ticularly beautiful with spring flowers and cut pansies. Podesta & Baldocchi's baskets have attracted much attention recently. The arrangement of spring flowers has been unusually artistic, while their orchid display has been noticeable for its va- riety of blooms. M. M. BEIDGEPORT, CONN. The Market. The cut flower supply is larger than it has been for some time. Among the spring flowers are daffodils, tulips, free- sias. Paper Whites and pansies. There are now enough roses to fill all orders and the carnation supply has also in- creased. Fine snapdragons are to be had. Sweet peas, callas and Easter lilies are all in abundant supply. Among the other flowers that are being dis- played are mignonette, violets, calen- dulas, Eoman hyacinths and forsythias. Not only is there an increased supply, but, because social activities have been fewer in number in Lent, there have been fewer demands for flowers for decorations, etc., and the prices have fallen to some extent. They are now lower than they have been since before Christmas, Some of the local florists are only asking $2 per dozen for carna- tions and from $5 to $7 per dozen for roses. Some of the florists believe that the people who refused to pay the high rates for cut flowers and took plants in preference, because they believed the plants would make a better showing for the amount they wished to spend, will now buy more cut flowers. There is a pleasing variety of potted plants to be had. Among them are cinerarias, daffodils, tulips, begonias, hyacinths and cyclamens. With the exception of funeral work, for which there has been a big demand, owing to the large number of deaths which occurred during the influenza epidemic, business has been quiet during the last few weeks.
