Berlin Karlshorst German Russian museum, building where Germany signed capitulation on May 8, 1945

The museum is located at the site of the surrender of the German Armed Forces on 8 May 1945 in Berlin-Karlshorst. Jointly owned by the German and Russian governments, it contains a permanent exhibition on the German-Soviet war of 1941 to 1945. The building was originally the officers’ mess of the German Armed Forces’ Pioneer School, then it served as the seat of the Soviet Military Administration in Germany from 1945 until 1949. It became a museum in 1967.
