This machine embodies many new and important advantages, iseasy of adjustment and operation, strong and rigid, and free fromcomplicated mechanism. The main column is cast in one piecewith a broad floor base and the upper part is carried on friction 12 in. by means of screws, has a lateral movement of 18 in. bymeans of rack and pinion and has stops for gaging the length ofmortise. It will accommodate material 17 in. high and 12 in. thickand an adjustable clamp is provided for holding any thickness ofmortise. The auxiliary boring attachments are placed on one oreach side of the frame at such a distance from the chisel as willpermit of adjusting them to an angle of 30° in either depth of stroke of these boring attachments is 12 in. and thetransverse movement 11 in. .•\ recent new patent is for a swivel bullseye signal, granted to S.
